PEARL FOR EACH DAY:

(Luke 3:1-4)

1. In the fifteenth year of Tiberius Ceasar's reign - when Pontius Pilate was governor of Judea, and Herod was tetrarch of Galilee, and his brother Philip tetrarch of the region of Ituraea and Trachonitis, and  Lysanias tetrarch of Abilene - 

2. in the high priesthood of Annas and Caiaphas, the Word of God (concerning the attainment through Christ, of salvation in the kingdom of God) came to John, son of Zachariah in the wilderness (desert). 

3. And he went into all the country round about the Jordan, preaching a baptism of repentance (of hearty amending of their ways, with abhorrence of past wrongdoings) unto the forgiveness of sin;

4. as it is written in the book of words of Isaiah the prophet: "The voice of one crying in the wilderness, (shouting in the desert): 'Prepare the way of the Lord, make His beaten paths straight.'"

(Luke 3:1-4)

1. En in die vyftiende jaar van die regering van keiser Tibérius, toe Pontius Pilatus goewerneur was van Judéa, en Herodus viervors van Galiléa, en Filippus sy broer, viervors van Ituréa en die land Trachonítis, en Lisánias viervors van Abiléne, 

2. tydens die hoëpriesterskap van Annas en Kájafas, het die Woord van God gekom tot Johannes, die seun van Sagaría, in die woestyn. 

3. En hy het gekom in die hele omtrek van die Jordaan en die doop van bekering, tot vergifnes van sondes verkondig; 

4. soos geskrywe is in die boek van die woorde van Jesaja, die profeet, waar hy sê: "Die stem van een wat roep in die woestyn: 'Berei die weg van die Here, maak Sy paaie reguit.'"

(Ek vertrou die Heilige Gees van God om die korrekte Skriflesing gedeelte aan my deur te gee elke dag, volgens u behoeftes en verwagtinge. 

Aan Hom kom toe alle eer, heerlikheid, krag, mag, lofprysing, aanbidding en danksegging van nou, tot in ewigheid.
