PÊREL VIR ELKE DAG:

(Lukas 3:10-16)

10. En die skare het hom gevra en gesê: "Wat sal ons dan doen?"

11. En hy antwoord en sê vir hulle: "Wie twee kledingstukke het, moet meedeel aan hom wat nie het nie; en wie voedsel het moet dieselfde doen."

12. En tollenaars het ook gekom om gedoop te word, en vir hom gesê: "Meester, wat moet ons doen?"

13. En hy antwoord hulle: "Moenie meer invorder as wat julle voorgeskrywe is nie."

14. En die soldate het hom ook gevra en gesê: "En ons, wat moet ons doen?" En hy antwoord hulle: "Julle moet niemand geweld aandoen of iets afpers nie, en wees tevrede met julle soldy."

15. En terwyl die volk in verwagting was, en almal in hulle hart oorweeg het aangaande Johannes, of hy nie miskien die Christus was nie,

16. antwoord Johannes almal en sê: "Ek doop julle met water, maar Hy wat sterker is as ek, Wie se skoenriem ek nie waardig is om los te maak nie - Hy sal julle doop met die Heilige Gees en met vuur."

PEARL FOR EACH DAY:

(Luke 3:10-16)

10. And the multitudes asked him: "Then what shall we do?" 

11. And he replied to them: 'He who has two tunics (undergarments), let him share with him who has none, and he who has food, let him do it the same way. 

12. Even tax collectors came to be baptized, and they said to him: "Teacher, what shall we do?

13. And he said to them: "Exact and collect no more than the fixed amount appointed you."

14. Those serving as soldiers also asked him: "And we, what shall we do?" And he replied to them: "Never demand or enforce by terrifying people, or by accusing wrongfully, and always be satisfied with your rations ( supplies) and your allowance (wages).

15. As the prople were in suspense and waited expectantly, and everybody reasoned and questioned in their hearts concerning John, whether perhaps he might be the Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed One),

16. John answered them all by saying: "I baptize you with water; but He Who is mightier than I is coming, the strap of Whose sandals I am not fit to unfasten. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and with fire."

Aan Hom kom toe alle eer, heerlikheid, krag, mag, lofprysing, aanbidding en danksegging van nou, tot in ewigheid.
