(Deuteronomium 1:26-28)

26. Maar julle wou nie optrek nie, maar was wederstrewig teen die bevel van die Here julle God. 

27. En julle het in jul tente gemurmureer en gesê: "Omdat die Here ons haat, het Hy ons uit Egipteland uitgelei, om ons in die hand van die Amoriete oor te gee, dat hulle ons verdelg. 

28. "Waarheen moet ons optrek? Ons broers het ons hart laat versmelt deur te sê: 'Dit is 'n volk groter en hoër van gestalte as ons; die stede is groot en tot aan die hemel versterk; en ons het daar ook die (reusagtige) kinders van die Enakiete gesien."

(Deuteronomy 1: 26-28)

26. Yet you would not go up, but rebelled against the commandment of the Lord your God. 

27. You were peevish and discontented in your tents, and said: "Because the Lord hated us, He brought us forth out of the land of Egypt, to deliver us into the hands of the Amorites, to destroy us. 

28. "To what are we going up? Our brethren have made our hearts melt, saying: 'The people are bigger and taller than we are; the cities are great and fortified to the heavens. And moreover we have seen the (giantlike) sons of the Anakim there.'"

(Ek vertrou die Heilige Gees van God om elke dag die korrekte Skrifgedeelte aan u deur te gee, volgens u behoeftes en verwagtinge. Aan Hom kom toe alle eer, heerlikheid, lofprysing, aanbidding, krag, mag, danksegging, majesteit en soewereiniteit tot in alle ewigheid.
