PÊREL VIR ELKE DAG. /. PEARL FOR EACH DAY.

Woensdag 1 Augustus 2018.

PÊREL VIR ELKE DAG:

(Handelinge 14:19-23)

19. Maar daar het Jode van Antiochië en Ikónium aangekom, en hulle het, nadat hulle die skare omgepraat het, Paulus gestenig en hom buitekant die stad gesleep, met die gedagte dat hy dood was.

20. Maar toe die dissipels hom omring, het hy opgestaan en in die stad gekom, en die volgende dag saam met Bárnabas na Derbe vertrek.

21. En nadat hulle aan daardie stad die evangelie verkondig en 'n aantal dissipels gemaak het, het hulle teruggegaan na Listre en Ikónium en Antiochië,

22. en die siele van die dissipels versterk en hulle vermaan om in die geloof te bly deur te sê: "Ons moet deur baie verdrukkinge in die koninkryk van God ingaan."

23. En hulle het in elke gemeente vir hulle ouderlinge gekies, en hulle, ná gebed en vas, opgedra aan die Here, in wie hulle geglo het.

PEARL FOR EACH DAY:

(Acts 14:19-23)

19. But some Jews arrived there from Antioch and Iconium; and having persuaded the people and won them over, they stoned Paul and (afterward) dragged him out of the town, thinking that he was dead.

20. But the disciples formed a circle about him, and he got up and went back into the town; and on the morrow he went on with Barnabas to Derbe.

21. When they had preached the good news (Gospel) to that town and made disciples of many of the people, they went back to Lystra and Iconium and Antioch,

22. establishing and strengthening the souls and the hearts of the disciples, urging and warning and encouraging them to stand firm in the faith, and telling them that it is through many hardships and tribulations, we must enter the kingdom of God.

23. And when they had appointed and ordained elders for them in each Church with prayer and fasting, they committed them to the Lord in Whom they had come to believe (being full of joyful trust that He is the Christ, the Messiah).

PÊREL VIR ELKE DAG. /. PEARL FOR EACH DAY.

Dinsdag 17 Julie 2018.

PÊREL VIR ELKE DAG:

(Handelinge 12:1-5)

1. En omtrent daardie tyd het koning Herodes sy hande geslaan aan sommige uit die gemeente, om hulle kwaad aan te doen.

2. En hy het Jakobus die broer van Johannes, met die swaard omgebring.

3. En toe hy sien dat dit die Jode welgevallig was, het hy verder ook Petrus in hegtenis geneem. En dit was die dae van die ongesuurde brode.

4. Toe hy hom dan gegryp het, het hy hom in die gevangenis gesit en oorgegee aan vier wagte, elkeen van vier soldate om hom te bewaak, met die bedoeling om hom ná die Paasfees voor die volk te bring.

5. So is Petrus dan in die gevangenis bewaak; maar daar het 'n aanhoudende gebed tot God deur die gemeente vir hom opgegaan.

(Acts 12:1-5)

1. About that time, Herod the king stretched forth his hands to afflict and oppress and torment some who belonged to the Church.

2. And he killed James, the brother of John with a sword;

3. and when he saw that it was pleasing to the Jews, he proceeded further and arrested Peter also. This was during the days of Unleavened Bread (the Passover week).

4. And when he had seized Peter, he put him in prison and delivered him to four squads of soldiers of four each to guard him, purposing after the Passover to bring him forth to the people.

5. So Peter was kept in prison, but fervent prayer for him was persistently made to God by the Church (assembly).

PÊREL VIR ELKE DAG:

(Handelinge 12:6-11)

6. En toe Herodes hom wou voorbring, het Petrus in daardie nag tussen twee soldate geslaap, met twee kettings geboei, en wagte voor die deur het die gevangenis bewaak.

7. En meteens staan daar 'n engel van die Here by hom, en 'n lig skyn in die gevangenis. Toe slaan hy Petrus op die sy, maak hom wakker en sê: "Staan gou op!" En die boeie het van sy hande afgeval.

8. En die engel sê vir hom: "Omgord jou, en trek jou skoene aan!" En hy het dit gedoen. Verder sê hy vir hom: "Gooi jou bo-kleed om en volg my!"

9. En Petrus het uitgegaan en die engel gevolg; en hy het nie geweet dat wat deur die engel plaasgevind het, werklikheid was nie, maar hy het gemeen dat hy 'n gesig sien.

10. En toe hulle by die eerste en die tweede wag verbygegaan het, kom hulle by die ysterpoort wat na die stad lei, en dit het vanself vir hulle oopgegaan. En hulle het buitekant gekom en een straat ver gegaan, en dadelik het die engel hom verlaat.

11. Toe kom Petrus by homself en sê: "Nou weet ek waarlik dat die Here Sy engel gestuur en my gered het uit die hand van Herodes, en uit al die verwagtinge van die Joodse volk."

PEARL FOR EACH DAY:

(Acts 12:6-11)

6. The very night before Herod was about to bring him forth, Peter was sleeping between two soldiers, fastened with two chains, and sentries before the door were guarding the prison.

7. And suddenly an angel of the Lord appeared (standing beside him), and a light shone in the place where he was. And the angel gently smote Peter on the side and awakened him, saying: "Get up quickly!" And the chains fell off his hands.

8. And the angel said to him: "Tighten your belt and bind on your sandals." And he did so. And the angel said to him: "Wrap your outer garment around you and follow me."

9. And Peter went out (along) following him, and he was not conscious that what was apparently being done by the angel, was real, but thought he was seeing a vision.

10. When they had passed through the first guard and the second, they came to the iron gate which leads into the city. Of its own accord (the gate) swung open, and they went out and passed on through one street; at once the angel left him.

11. Then Peter came to himself and said: "Now I really know and am sure that the Lord Has sent His angel and delivered me from the hand of Herod and from all that the Jewish people were expecting to do to me."

PÊREL VIR ELKE DAG:

(Handelinge 12:18-25)

18. En toe dit dag geword het, was daar onder die soldate geen kleine opskudding oor wat van Petrus geword het nie.

19. Daarop het Herodes hom gesoek en nie gekry nie, en die wagte onder verhoor geneem, en bevel gegee dat hulle tereg gestel moes word. En hy het van Judéa weggegaan na Cesaréa en daar gebly.

20. En Herodes was verbitterd teen die Tiriërs en die Sidoniërs. En hulle het eenparig na hom gekom, en nadat hulle Blastus die koning se hofdienaar omgepraat het, vrede gevra, omdat hulle land onderhoud uit die koning s'n ontvang het.

21. En op 'n bepaalde dag het Herodes 'n koninklike kleed aangetrek, en op die troon gaan sit en hulle toegespreek.

22. Daarop het die volk hom toegeroep: "'n Stem van 'n god en nie van 'n mens nie!"

23. En onmiddellik het 'n engel van God hom getref, omdat hy die eer nie aan God gegee het nie; en hy is deur wurms verteer, en het gesterwe.

24. Maar die Woord van God het gegroei en toegeneem.

25. En Bárnabas en Saulus het van Jerusalem teruggekeer, nadat hulle hul diens vervul het. En hulle het Johannes saamgebring. wat ook Markus genoem word.

PEARL FOR EACH DAY:

(Acts 12:18-25)

18. Now, as soon as it was day, there was no small disturbance among the soldiers, as to what had become of Peter.

19. And when Herod had looked for him and could not find him, he put the guards on trial, and commanded that they should be led away (to execution). Then Herod went down from Judea to Ceasarea and stayed on there.

20. Now Herod cherished bitter animosity and hostility for the people of Tyre and Sidon, and (their deputies) came to him in a united body, and having made Blastus the king's chamberlain their friend, they asked for peace, because their country was nourished by and depended on the king's (country) for food.

21. On an appointed day Herod arrayed himself in his royal robes, took his seat upon his throne and addressed an oration to them.

22. And the assembled people shouted: "It is a voice of a god, and not of a man!"

23. And at once an angel of the Lord smote him down, because he did not give God the glory (the preeminence and kingly majesty that belong to Him as the supreme Ruler); and he was eaten by worms and died.

24. But the Word of the Lord (concerning the attainment through Christ of salvation in the kingdom of God), continued to grow and spread.

25. And Barnabas and Saul came back from Jerusalem when they had completed their mission, bringing with them John whose surname was Mark.

PÊREL VIR ELKE DAG:

(Handelinge 13:1-5)

1. En daar was in die plaaslike gemeente in Antiochíë sekere profete en leraars naamlik Bárnabas en Simeon wat Niger genoem word, en Lúcius, die Cirenéër, en Manáen, wat saam met Herodes die viervors grootgeword het, en Saulus.

2. En terwyl hulle besig was om die Here te dien en te vas, het die Heilige Gees gesê: "Sonder nou Bárnabas en Saulus vir my af vir die werk waarvoor Ek hulle geroep het."

3. En toe hulle gevas en gebid het, en hulle die hande opgelê het, laat hulle hul gaan.

4. So het hulle dan, deur die Heilige Gees uitgestuur, afgegaan na Seleúcië, en daarvandaan weggevaar na Ciprus.

5. En toe hulle in Sálamus kom, het hulle die Woord van God in die sinagoges van die Jode verkondig; en hulle het ook Johannes (Markus) as helper gehad.

PEARL FOR EACH DAY:

(Acts 13:1-5)

1. Now, in the Church assembly at Antioch, there were prophets (inspired) interpreters of the will and purposes of God and teachers: Barnabas. Symeon who was called Niger (Black), Luciud of Cyrene, Manaen a member of the court of Herod the tetrarch, and Saul.

2. While they were worshiping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said: "Seperate for Me now Barnabas and Saul, for the work to which I Have called them."

3. Then after fasting and praying, they put their hands on them and sent them away.

4. So then, being sent out by the Holy Spirit, they went down to Seleucia, and from (that part) they sailed away to Cyprus.

5. When they arrived at Salamis, they preached the Word of God (concerning the attainment through Christ of salvation in the kingdom of God) in the synagogues of the Jews. And they had John (Mark) as an attendant to assist them.

PÊREL VIR ELKE DAG:

(Handelinge 13:6-12)

6. En hulle het die eiland deurgegaan tot by Pafos en 'n towenaar gevind, 'n valse profeet, 'n Jood met die naam van Bar-Jesus.

7. Hy was by die goewerneur Sérgius Paulus, 'n verstandige man. Dié het Bárnabas en Saulus laat roep en het versoek om die Woord van God te hoor.

8. Maar Élimas die towenaar - want so word sy naam vertaal - het hulle teëgestaan en het probeer om die goewerneur afkerig te maak van die geloof.

9. Maar Saulus, dit is Paulus, vervul met die Heilige Gees, het die oë op hom gehou en gesê:

10. "Kind van die duiwel, vol van alle bedrog en alle listigheid, vyand van alle geregtigheid, sal jy nie ophou om die reguit weë van die Here te verdraai nie?

11. "En nou kyk, die hand van die Here is op jou, en jy sal blind wees en die son vir 'n tyd lank nie sien nie." En onmiddelik het daar donkerheid en duisternis op hom geval, en hy het rondgegaan en gesoek na mense wat hom met die hand kon lei.

12. Toe die goewerneur dan sien wat daar gebeur het, was hy verslae oor die leer van die Here en het geglo.

PEARL FOR EACH DAY:

(Acts 13:6-12)

6. When they had passed through the entire island of Cyprus as far as Paphos, they came upon a certain Jewish wizard or sorcerer, a false prophet named Bar-Jesus.

7. He was closely associated with the proconsul, Sergius Paulus, who was an intelligent and sensible man of sound understanding; he summoned to him Barnabas and Saul, and sought to hear the Word of God (concerning salvation in the Kingdom of God, attained through Christ).

8. But Elymas the wise man - for that was die translation of his name - (which he had given himself) - opposed them, seeking to keep the proconsul from accepting the faith.

9. But Saul, who is also called Paul, filled with and controlled by the Holy Spirit, looked steadily at Elymas,

10. and said: "You master in every form of deception and recklessness, unscrupulousness, and wickedness, you son of the devil, you enemy of everything that is upright and good, will you never stop perverting and making crooked the straight paths of the Lord and plotting against His saving purposes?

11. "And now behold, the hand of the Lord is upon you and you will be blind, (so blind that you will be) unable to see the sun for a time. Instantly there fell upon him a mist and a darkness, and he groped about seeking persons who would lead him by the hand.

12. Then the proconsul believed (became a Christian) when he saw what had occurred, for he was astonished and deeply touched at the teaching concerning the Lord and from Him.

PÊREL VIR ELKE DAG:

(Handelinge 13:13-18)

13. En Paulus en sy metgeselle het afgevaar van Pafos en by Perge en Pamfilië gekom. En Johannes (Markus) het hulle verlaat en na Jerusalem teruggekeer.

14. Maar hulle het van Perge af verder gegaan en in Antiochíë in Pisídië aangekom, en hulle het op die sabbatdag gegaan en gaan sit,

15. en ná die lesing van die Wet en die Profete het die hoofde van die sinagoge na hulle gestuur en gesê: 'Broeders, as julle 'n woord van opwekking vir die volk het, spreek dan!'

16. Toe staan Paulus op, wink met die hand en sê: "Israeliete en julle wat God vrees, luister!

17. "Die God van hierdie volk Israel het ons vaders uitverkies, en die volk verhoog toe hulle bywoners in Egipteland was, en met 'n hoë arm hulle daaruit gelei.

18. "En omtrent veertig jaar lank het Hy hulle in die woestyn verdra."

PEARL FOR EACH DAY:

(Acts 13:13-18)

13. Now Paul and his companions sailed from Paphos and came to Perga in Pamphylia. And John (Mark) separated himself from them and went back to Jerusalem,

14. but they themselves came on from Perga and arrived at Antioch in Pisidia. And on the Sabbath day they went into the synagogue there, and sat down,

15. and after the reading of the Law and the Prophets, the leaders (of the worship) of the synagogue sent to them, saying: 'Brethren, if you have any word of exhortation or consolation or encouragement for the people, say it.'

16. So Paul arose, and motioning with his hand, said: "Men of Israel and you who reverence and fear God, listen!

17. "The God of this people Israel selected our forefathers and made this people great and important during their stay in the land of Egypt, and then with an uplifted arm He led them out from there.

18. "And for about forty years like a Fatherly nurse He cared for them in the wilderness and endured their behaviour.
