PÊREL VIR ELKE DAG. /. PEARL FOR EACH DAY.

Vrydag 20 Julie 2018.

PÊREL VIR ELKE DAG:

(Handelinge 12:18-25)

18. En toe dit dag geword het, was daar onder die soldate geen kleine opskudding oor wat van Petrus geword het nie.

19. Daarop het Herodes hom gesoek en nie gekry nie, en die wagte onder verhoor geneem, en bevel gegee dat hulle tereg gestel moes word. En hy het van Judéa weggegaan na Cesaréa en daar gebly.

20. En Herodes was verbitterd teen die Tiriërs en die Sidoniërs. En hulle het eenparig na hom gekom, en nadat hulle Blastus die koning se hofdienaar omgepraat het, vrede gevra, omdat hulle land onderhoud uit die koning s'n ontvang het.

21. En op 'n bepaalde dag het Herodes 'n koninklike kleed aangetrek, en op die troon gaan sit en hulle toegespreek.

22. Daarop het die volk hom toegeroep: "'n Stem van 'n god en nie van 'n mens nie!"

23. En onmiddellik het 'n engel van God hom getref, omdat hy die eer nie aan God gegee het nie; en hy is deur wurms verteer, en het gesterwe.

24. Maar die Woord van God het gegroei en toegeneem.

25. En Bárnabas en Saulus het van Jerusalem teruggekeer, nadat hulle hul diens vervul het. En hulle het Johannes saamgebring. wat ook Markus genoem word.

(Acts 12:18-25)

18. Now, as soon as it was day, there was no small disturbance among the soldiers, as to what had become of Peter.

19. And when Herod had looked for him and could not find him, he put the guards on trial, and commanded that they should be led away (to execution). Then Herod went down from Judea to Ceasarea and stayed on there.

20. Now Herod cherished bitter animosity and hostility for the people of Tyre and Sidon, and (their deputies) came to him in a united body, and having made Blastus the king's chamberlain their friend, they asked for peace, because their country was nourished by and depended on the king's (country) for food.

21. On an appointed day Herod arrayed himself in his royal robes, took his seat upon his throne and addressed an oration to them.

22. And the assembled people shouted: "It is a voice of a god, and not of a man!"

23. And at once an angel of the Lord smote him down, because he did not give God the glory (the preeminence and kingly majesty that belong to Him as the supreme Ruler); and he was eaten by worms and died.

24. But the Word of the Lord (concerning the attainment through Christ of salvation in the kingdom of God), continued to grow and spread.

25. And Barnabas and Saul came back from Jerusalem when they had completed their mission, bringing with them John whose surname was Mark.

PÊREL VIR ELKE DAG:

(Handelinge 13:1-5)

1. En daar was in die plaaslike gemeente in Antiochíë sekere profete en leraars naamlik Bárnabas en Simeon wat Niger genoem word, en Lúcius, die Cirenéër, en Manáen, wat saam met Herodes die viervors grootgeword het, en Saulus.

2. En terwyl hulle besig was om die Here te dien en te vas, het die Heilige Gees gesê: "Sonder nou Bárnabas en Saulus vir my af vir die werk waarvoor Ek hulle geroep het."

3. En toe hulle gevas en gebid het, en hulle die hande opgelê het, laat hulle hul gaan.

4. So het hulle dan, deur die Heilige Gees uitgestuur, afgegaan na Seleúcië, en daarvandaan weggevaar na Ciprus.

5. En toe hulle in Sálamus kom, het hulle die Woord van God in die sinagoges van die Jode verkondig; en hulle het ook Johannes (Markus) as helper gehad.

PEARL FOR EACH DAY:

(Acts 13:1-5)

1. Now, in the Church assembly at Antioch, there were prophets (inspired) interpreters of the will and purposes of God and teachers: Barnabas. Symeon who was called Niger (Black), Luciud of Cyrene, Manaen a member of the court of Herod the tetrarch, and Saul.

2. While they were worshiping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said: "Seperate for Me now Barnabas and Saul, for the work to which I Have called them."

3. Then after fasting and praying, they put their hands on them and sent them away.

4. So then, being sent out by the Holy Spirit, they went down to Seleucia, and from (that part) they sailed away to Cyprus.

5. When they arrived at Salamis, they preached the Word of God (concerning the attainment through Christ of salvation in the kingdom of God) in the synagogues of the Jews. And they had John (Mark) as an attendant to assist them.

PÊREL VIR ELKE DAG:

(Handelinge 13:6-12)

6. En hulle het die eiland deurgegaan tot by Pafos en 'n towenaar gevind, 'n valse profeet, 'n Jood met die naam van Bar-Jesus.

7. Hy was by die goewerneur Sérgius Paulus, 'n verstandige man. Dié het Bárnabas en Saulus laat roep en het versoek om die Woord van God te hoor.

8. Maar Élimas die towenaar - want so word sy naam vertaal - het hulle teëgestaan en het probeer om die goewerneur afkerig te maak van die geloof.

9. Maar Saulus, dit is Paulus, vervul met die Heilige Gees, het die oë op hom gehou en gesê:

10. "Kind van die duiwel, vol van alle bedrog en alle listigheid, vyand van alle geregtigheid, sal jy nie ophou om die reguit weë van die Here te verdraai nie?

11. "En nou kyk, die hand van die Here is op jou, en jy sal blind wees en die son vir 'n tyd lank nie sien nie." En onmiddelik het daar donkerheid en duisternis op hom geval, en hy het rondgegaan en gesoek na mense wat hom met die hand kon lei.

12. Toe die goewerneur dan sien wat daar gebeur het, was hy verslae oor die leer van die Here en het geglo.

(Acts 13:6-12)

6. When they had passed through the entire island of Cyprus as far as Paphos, they came upon a certain Jewish wizard or sorcerer, a false prophet named Bar-Jesus.

7. He was closely associated with the proconsul, Sergius Paulus, who was an intelligent and sensible man of sound understanding; he summoned to him Barnabas and Saul, and sought to hear the Word of God (concerning salvation in the Kingdom of God, attained through Christ).

8. But Elymas the wise man - for that was die translation of his name - (which he had given himself) - opposed them, seeking to keep the proconsul from accepting the faith.

9. But Saul, who is also called Paul, filled with and controlled by the Holy Spirit, looked steadily at Elymas,

10. and said: "You master in every form of deception and recklessness, unscrupulousness, and wickedness, you son of the devil, you enemy of everything that is upright and good, will you never stop perverting and making crooked the straight paths of the Lord and plotting against His saving purposes?

11. "And now behold, the hand of the Lord is upon you and you will be blind, (so blind that you will be) unable to see the sun for a time. Instantly there fell upon him a mist and a darkness, and he groped about seeking persons who would lead him by the hand.

12. Then the proconsul believed (became a Christian) when he saw what had occurred, for he was astonished and deeply touched at the teaching concerning the Lord and from Him.

(Handelinge 13:13-18)

13. En Paulus en sy metgeselle het afgevaar van Pafos en by Perge en Pamfilië gekom. En Johannes (Markus) het hulle verlaat en na Jerusalem teruggekeer.

14. Maar hulle het van Perge af verder gegaan en in Antiochíë in Pisídië aangekom, en hulle het op die sabbatdag gegaan en gaan sit,

15. en ná die lesing van die Wet en die Profete het die hoofde van die sinagoge na hulle gestuur en gesê: 'Broeders, as julle 'n woord van opwekking vir die volk het, spreek dan!'

16. Toe staan Paulus op, wink met die hand en sê: "Israeliete en julle wat God vrees, luister!

17. "Die God van hierdie volk Israel het ons vaders uitverkies, en die volk verhoog toe hulle bywoners in Egipteland was, en met 'n hoë arm hulle daaruit gelei.

18. "En omtrent veertig jaar lank het Hy hulle in die woestyn verdra."

(Acts 13:13-18)

13. Now Paul and his companions sailed from Paphos and came to Perga in Pamphylia. And John (Mark) separated himself from them and went back to Jerusalem,

14. but they themselves came on from Perga and arrived at Antioch in Pisidia. And on the Sabbath day they went into the synagogue there, and sat down,

15. and after the reading of the Law and the Prophets, the leaders (of the worship) of the synagogue sent to them, saying: 'Brethren, if you have any word of exhortation or consolation or encouragement for the people, say it.'

16. So Paul arose, and motioning with his hand, said: "Men of Israel and you who reverence and fear God, listen!

17. "The God of this people Israel selected our forefathers and made this people great and important during their stay in the land of Egypt, and then with an uplifted arm He led them out from there.

18. "And for about forty years like a Fatherly nurse He cared for them in the wilderness and endured their behaviour.

PÊREL VIR ELKE DAG:

(Handelinge 12:12-17)

12. En nadat dit vir hom duidelik geword het, kom hy by die huis van Maria, die moeder van Johannes wat ook Markus genoem word, waar baie in die gebed bymekaar was.

13. En toe Petrus aan die deur van die poort klop, het 'n diensmeisie met die naam van Rhodé gegaan om te hoor wie daar was.

14. En sy het die stem van Petrus herken en van blydskap die poort nie oopgemaak nie, maar na binne gehardloop en vertel dat Petrus voor die poort staan.

15. Maar hulle sê vir haar: "Jy is van jou verstand af." Maar sy het volgehou dat dit so is. Daarop sê hulle: "Dit is sy engel."

16. En Petrus het aangehou met klop; en toe hulle oopmaak, sien hulle hom en was verbaas.

17. Maar hy het hulle met die hand gewink om stil te bly en aan hulle vertel hoe die Here hom uit die gevangenis uitgelei het. En hy sê: "Vertel dit aan Jakobus en die broeders." En hy het uitgegaan en na 'n ander plek vertrek.

(Acts 12:12-17)

12. When Peter at a glance, became aware of this (comprehending all the elements of the case), he went to the house of Mary the mother of John, whose surname was Mark, where a large number were assembled together and were praying.

13. And when he knocked at the gate of the porch, a maid named Rhoda came to answer.

14. And recognizing Peter's voice, in her joy she failed to open the gate, but ran in and told the people that Peter was standing before the porch gate.

15. They said to her: "You are crazy!" But she persistently and strongly and confidently affirmed that it was the truth. They said: "It is his angel!"

16. But meanwhile Peter continued knocking, and when they opened the gate and saw him, they were amazed.

17. But motioning to them with his hand to keep quiet and listen, he related to them how the Lord had delivered him out of the prison. And he said: "Report all this to James (the Less) and to the brethren." Then he left and went so some other place.

(Handelinge 13:19-24)

19. "En sewe nasies het Hy in

die land Kanaän uitgeroei en hulle land deur die lot aan hulle uitgedeel.

20. "En daarna, omtrent vier honderd en vyftig jaar lank, het Hy rigters gegee tot op Samuel, die profeet.

21. "En van toe af het hulle 'n koning begeer, en God het aan hulle gegee Saul, die seun van Kis, 'n man uit die stam van Benjamin, veertig jaar lank.

22. "En nadat Hy hom afgesit het, het hy Dawid vir hulle verhef as koning, van wie Hy ook gesê en getuig het: 'Ek het Dawid, die seun van Isai gevind, 'n man na My hart, wat al My welbehae sal doen.'

23. "Uit die geslag van hierdie man, het God vir Israel, volgens die belofte, Jesus die Verlosser verwek,

24. "Nadat Johannes die Doper voor Sy koms, eers die doop van bekering aan die hele volk van Israel verkondig het."

(Acts 13:19-24)

19. "When He had destroyed seven nations in the land of Canaan, He gave them (the Hebrews), their land as an inheritance (distributing it to them by lot; all of which took about) four hundred and fifty years.

20. "After that, He gave them judges until the prophet Samuel.

21. "Then they asked for a king; and God gave them Saul, son of Kish, a man from the tribe of Benjamin, for forty years.

22. "And when He had deposed him, He raised up David to be their king; of him He bore witness and said: 'I Have found David, son of Jesse, a man after My own heart, who will do all My will and carry out My program fully.'

23. "Of this man's descendants God Has brought to Israel a Saviour (in the Person of Jesus), according to His promise.

24. "Before His coming John the Baptist had (already) preached baptism of repentance, to all the people of Israel."

(Handelinge 13:25-31)

25. "En toe Johannes die Doper aan die einde van sy loopbaan gekom het, het hy gesê: 'Wie dink julle is ek? Ek is dit nie, maar kyk, Hy kom ná my, Wie se skoen ek nie waardig is om van Sy voete los te maak nie.

26. "Broeders, kinders van die geslag van Abraham, en die onder julle wat God vrees, vir julle is hierdie Woord van verlossing gestuur.

27. "Want inwoners van Jerusalem en hulle owerstes het Hom nie geken nie, en deur Hom te veroordeel, het hulle die woorde van die profete vervul wat elke sabbat gelees word.

28. "En al het hulle niks gevind wat die dood verdien nie, tog het hulle van Pilatus gevra dat Hy omgebring moes word.

29. "En toe hulle alles volbring het wat oor Hom geskrywe is, het hulle hom van die kruishout afgehaal en in 'n graf neergelê.

30. "Maar God het Hom uit die dode opgewek.

31. "En gedurende baie dae het Hy verskyn aan die wat saam met Hom opgegaan het van Galiléa na Jerusalem, en hulle is Sy getuies by die volk."

PEARL FOR EACH DAY:

(Acts 13:25-31)

25. "And as John the Baptist was ending his course, he asked: 'What or who do you secretly think that I am? I am not He (the Christ. No), but note that after me One is coming, the sandals of Whose feet I am not worthy to untie!

26. "Brethren sons of the family of Abraham, and all those others among you who reverence and fear God, to us has been sent the message of this salvation (the salvation obtained through Jesus Christ).

27. "For those who dwell in Jerusalem and their rulers, because they did not know or recognize Him, or understand the utterences of the prophets which are read every Sabbath, have actually fulfilled these very predictions by condemning and sentencing (Him).

28. "And although they could find no cause deserving death with which to charge Him, yet they asked Pilate to have Him executed and put out of the way.

29. "And when they had finished and fulfilled everything that was written about Him, they took Him down from the tree, and laid Him in a tomb.

30. "But God raised Him from the dead.

31. "And for many days He appeared to those who came up with Him from Galilee to Jerusalem, and they are His witnesses to the people."
