PÊREL VIR ELKE DAG:

(Handelinge 7:42-44)

42. "Maar God het Hom afgewend en hulle oorgegee om die leër van die hemel te dien, soos geskrywe is in die boek van die profete: 'Julle het tog nie aan My slagoffers en offers gebring gedurende veertig jaar in die woestyn nie, o huis van Iarael?

43. "'Ja, julle het die tent van Molog opgeneem, en die ster van Remfan, die beelde wat julle gemaak het om hulle te aanbid. En Ek sal julle anderkant Babilon wegvoer.'

44. "Die tent van die Getuienis was onder ons vaders in die woestyn, soos Hy met Moses gespreek het, hom bevel gegee het om dit te maak volgens die afbeelding wat hy gesien het."

(Acts 7:42-44)

42. "But God turned away from them and delivered them up to worship and serve the host (stars) of heaven, as it is written in the book of the prophets: Did you really offer to Me slain beasts and sacrifices for forty years in the wilderness, O house of Israel?

43. "(No!) You took up the tent (the portable temple) of Moloch and carried it with you, and the star of the god Rephan, the images which you yourselves made that you might worship them; and I will remove you (carrying you away into exile) beyond Babylon.'

44. "Our forefathers had the tent (tabernacle) of witness in the wilderness, even as He Who directed Moses to make it had ordered, according to the pattern and model he had seen."

PÊREL VIR ELKE DAG:

(Handelinge 7:34-37)

34 "'Ek het duidelik gesien die mishandeling van My volk wat in Egipte is, en hulle gesug gehoor en neergedaal om hulle te verlos. En nou, kom hier, Ek wil jou na Egipte stuur.'

35. "Hierdie Moses wat hulle verloën het deur te sê: 'Wie het jou aangestel as 'n owerste en regter?' - hom het God as owerste en verlosser gestuur deur die hand van die Engel wat aan hom verskyn het in die doringbos.

36. "Hy het hulle uitgelei en wonders en tekens in Egipteland en in die Rooisee en in die woestyn gedoen, veertig jaar lank.

37. "Dit is dié Moses wat aan die kinders van Israel gesê het: 'Die Here julle God sal vir julle 'n Profeet verwek uit julle broers net soos ek is; na Hom moet julle luister.'"

(Acts 7:34-37)

34. "'Because I have most assuredly seen the abuse and oppression of My people in Egypt, and have heard their sighing and groaning, I Have come down to rescue them. So now come! I will send you back to Egypt (as My messenger).'

35. "It was this very Moses whom they have denied (disowned and rejected), saying: 'Who made you our ruler (referee) and judge?' Whom God sent to be a deliverer and redeemer, by and with the (protecting and helping) hand of the Angel that appeared to him in the bramblebush.

36. "He it was who led them forth, having worked wonders and signs in Egypt and at the Red Sea and during the forty years in the wilderness (desert).

37"It was this (very) Moses who said to the children of Israel: 'God will raise up for you a Prophet from among your brethren, as He raised me up. Him you shall hear,'"

PEARL FOR EACH DAY:

(Acts 7:51-57)

51. "You stubborn and stiff-necked people, still heathen and uncircumcised in heart and ears, you are always actively resisting the Holy Spirit. As your forefathers were, so you are and so you do!

52. "Which of the prophets did your forefathers not persecute? And they slew those who proclaimed beforehand the coming of the Righteous One, Whom you now betrayed and murdered -

53. "You who received the Law as it was ordained, and set in order and delivered by angels, and yet you did not obey it!"

54. Now upon hearing these things, they (the Jews) were cut to the heart and infuriated, and they ground their teeth against Stephen.

55. But he, full of the Holy Spirit and controlled by Him, gazed into heaven and saw the glory (the splendour and majesty) of God, and Jesus standing at God's right hand;

56. and he said: "Look, I see the heavens opened and the Son of Man standing at God's right hand!"

57. But they raised a great shout and put their hands over their ears and rushed together upon him.

(Handelinge 7:51-57)

51. "Julle hardnekkiges en onbesnedenes van hart en ore, julle weerstaan altyd die Heilige Gees; net soos julle vaders, so ook julle.

52. "Watter een van die profete het julle vaders nie vervolg nie? ja, hulle het dié gedood wat vooraf die koms verkondig het van die Regverdige, van Wie julle nou verraaiers en moordenaars geword het;

53. "julle wat die wet deur die beskikkinge van engele ontvang het, en tog nie onderhou het nie!"

54. En toe hulle dit hoor, was hulle woedend in hul harte en het teen hom op die tande gekners.

55. Maar hy was vol van die Heilige Gees en het die oë na die hemel gehou en die heerlikheid van God gesien, en Jesus gesien wat staan aan die regterhand van God.

56. En hy het gesê: "Kyk, ek sien die hemele geopend en die Seun van die Mens aan die regterhand van God staan."

57. Maar hulle het met 'n groot stem geskreeu en hulle ore toegestop, en soos een man op hom aangestorm.

PÊREL VIR ELKE DAG:

(Handelinge 7:58-60)

58. En hulle het hom buitekant die stad uitgewerp en hom gestenig; en die getuienis het hulle klere neergelê by die voete van van 'n jongman met die naam van Saulus.

59. En hulle het Stéfanus gestenig terwyl hy die Here aanroep en sê: "Here Jesus, ontvang my gees!"

60. En hy het op sy knieë neergeval en met 'n groot stem uitgeroep: "Here, reken hulle hierdie sonde nie toe nie!" En met dié woorde het hy ontslaap.

(Acts 7:58-60)

58. Then they dragged him out of the city and began to stone him, and the witnesses placed their garments at the feet of a young man named Saul.

59. And while they were stoning Stephen, he prayed: "Lord Jesus, receive and accept and welcome my spirit!"

60. And falling on his knees, he cried out loudly: "Lord, fix not this sin upon them (lay it not to their charge)!" And when he had said this, he fell asleep (in death).

PÊREL VIR ELKE DAG:

(Handelinge 8:1-7)

1. En Saulus het ook vermoording goedgekeur. En daar het in dié tyd 'n groot vervolging teen die gemeente in Jerusalem ontstaan, en almal is verstrooi oor die streke van Judéa en Samaría, behalwe die apostels.

2. En godvresende manne het Stéfanus begrawe, en 'n groot rou oor hom bedrywe.

3. Maar Saulus het die gemeente verwoes en in die huise gegaan en manne en vroue uitgesleep en in die gevangenis oorgelewer.

4. En die wat verstrooi was, het die land deurgegaan en die woord van die evangelie verkondig.

5. En Filippus (die diaken), het afgekom in 'n stad van Samaría, en Christus aan hulle verkondig.

6. En die skare het eendragtig ag gegee op die woorde van Filippus toe hulle dit hoor, en die tekens sien wat hy doen.

7. Want uit baie van die wat onreine geeste gehad het, het die geeste uitgegaan terwyl hulle met 'n groot stem skreeu; en baie wat lam en kreupel was, het gesond geword.

PEARL FOR EACH DAY:

(Acts 8:1-7)

1. And Saul was not only consenting to Stephen's death (he was pleased and entirely approving). On that day a great and severe persecution broke out against the church that was in Jerusalem; and they were all scattered throughout the regions of Jedea and Samaria, except the apostles.

2. A (party of) devout men with others helped to carry out and bury Stephen, and made great lamentation over him.

3. But Saul shamefully treated and laid waste the church continuously (with cruelty and violence); and entering house after house, he dragged out men and women and committed them to prison.

4. Now those who were scattered abroad went abroad (through the land from place to place) preaching the glad tidings, the Word (the doctrine concerning the attainment through Christ of salvation in the kingdom of God).

5. Philip (the deacon, not the apostle) went down to the city of Samaria and proclaimed the Christ (the Messiah) to the people;

6. and great crowds of people with one accord listened to and heeded what was said by Philip, as they heard him and watched the miracles and wonders which he kept performing (from time to time).

7. For foul spirits came out of many whe were possessed by them, screaming and shouting with a loud voice, and many who were suffering from palsy or were crippled, were restored to health.

Maandag 18 Junie 2018.

PÊREL VIR ELKE DAG:

(Handelinge 8:8-14)

8. En daar was groot blydskap in daardie stad.

9. En 'n sekere man met die naam van Simon het vantevore in die stad met towery omgegaan, en die bevolking van Samaría verbyster deur te sê dat hy iets besonders was.

10. En almal klein en groot, het hom aangehang en gesê: 'Hy is die groot krag van God.'

11. En hulle het hom aangehang, omdat hy hulle 'n geruime tyd deur sy towery verbyster het.

12. Maar toe hulle Filipus geglo het, wat die evangelie aangaande die koninkryk van God en die Naam van Jesus Christus verkondig het, is hulle gedoop, manne sowel as vroue.

13. En Simon het ook self gelowig geword, en nadat hy gedoop was, gedurig by Filippus gebly; en hy was verbaas toe hy die tekens en groot kragte sien gebeur.

14. En toe die apostels in Jerusalem hoor dat Samaría die Woord van God aangeneem het, het hulle Petrus en Johannes na hulle gestuur.

PEARL FOR EACH DAY:

(Acts 8:8-14)

8. And there was great rejoicing in that city.

9. But there was a man named Simon, who had formerly practiced magic arts in the city, to the utter amazement of the Samaritan nation, claiming that he himself was an extraordinary and distinguised person.

10. They all paid earnest attention to him, from the least to the greatest, saying: 'This man is that exhibition of the power of God, which is called great (intense).'

11. And they were attentive and made much of him, because for a long time he had amazed and bewildered and dazzled them with his skill in magic arts.

12. But when they believed the good news (the gospel) about the kingdom of God and Name of Jesus Christ (the Messiah) as Philip preached it, they were baptized both men and woman.

13. Even Simon himself believed (he adhered to, trusted in, and relied on the teaching of Philip), and after being baptized, devoted himself constantly to him. And seeing signs and miracles of great power which were being performed, he was utterly amazed.

14. Now when the apostles at Jerusalem heard that (the country of) Samaria had accepted and welcomed the Word of God, they sent Peter and John to them.

11. "En 'n hongersnood en groot benoudheid het oor die hele Egipteland en Kanaän gekom, en ons vaders kon geen voedsel kry nie.

12. "En toe Jakob hoor dat daar koring in Egipte was, het hy ons vaders die eerste keer uitgestuur.

13. "En die tweede keer is Josef deur sy broers herken, en die afkoms van Josef het aan Farao bekend geword.

14. "Toe het Josef uitgestuur en sy vader Jakob laat roep en sy hele familie, vyf-en-sewentig siele.

15. "En Jakob het afgetrek na Egipte en daar gesterwe, hy en ons vaders."

PEARL FOR EACH DAY:

(Acts 7:11-15)

11. "Then there came a famine over all Egypt and Canaan, with great distress, and our forefathers could find no fodder (for the cattle) or vegetable substance (for their households).

12. "But when Jacob heard that there was grain in Egypt, he sent forth our forefathers to go there on their first trip.

13. "And on their second visit Joseph revealed himself to his brothers, and the family of Joseph became known to Pharaoh, and his origin and race.

14. "And Joseph sent an invitation, calling to himself Jacob his father and all his kindred, seventy five persons in all.

15. "And Jacob went down into Egypt, where he himself died, as did also our forefathers."
